Carl Kennedy

Director of Music

Carl Kennedy is a highly skilled pianist and composer based in Chicago, renowned for his versatility across various musical genres including jazz, soul, fusion, folk, and classical traditions. With a diverse musical background, Carl is sought-after for his emotionally expressive performances and original compositions.

His musical journey has taken him to prestigious venues nationwide, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Millennium Park Jay Pritzker Pavilion, South By Southwest Music Festival, Summerfest, and many others. Carl holds a Bachelor of Music in Theory/Composition with a Jazz Emphasis from Lawrence University, as well as a Master of Music in Jazz Composition from The DePaul School of Music.

In addition to his work at Second Unitarian, Carl plays a vital role in co-leading the jazz program at Thomas Kelly High School and serves on the music faculty at Saint Xavier University.
