Second Unitarian Church lay people have a rich history of providing support to congregants who are experiencing changes and/or challenges in their lives; for example, the loss of a loved one, a new addition to the family, or an illness. The Pastoral Care Team carries on this role. The team is divided into two functions, practical and pastoral care, and the functions are managed by Practical Care and Pastoral Care Coordinators along with the minister’s leadership and support. The practical care group provides physical/material support that is typically short-term in nature, while the pastoral care group generally provides emotional support on a more long-term or intensive basis.
