The path to membership in a church community is different for each person; we are here to help as you make this important decision. If you have been participating in the life of the church and want to learn more about becoming a member, please contact us below.
Our Orientation classes are meant for people who are trying to discern whether or not Unitarian Universalism is right for them. It also fulfills one of the requirements for membership. We describe the historical and theological roots of Unitarian Universalism, discuss the priorities and values of Second Unitarian Church, and offer a time for your own personal reflection on what you are looking for in a church community.
Orientation is for people pursuing membership at Second Unitarian or wanting to know more about Unitarian Universalism, 2U history, involvement and governance. Attending an Orientation satisfies one of the requirements to become a member of Second Unitarian Church. The others are: be at least 16, attend at least 3 services, and make your pledge.
-
The first session is facilitated by our minister, Reverend Jason Lydon, and will explore spiritual journeys that led folks to 2U and also provide a history of Unitarian Universalism.
-
Session two delves into the rich history of our congregation, which dates back to 1857. It also provides an overview of the church's programs and offers insights on how you can get involved.
-
The final session offers valuable information on the church's governance, financial structure, and the process of selecting our ministers.
