DRUUMM Meeting
Diverse & Revolutionary Unitarian Universalist Multicultural Ministries (DRUUMM) is a sacred place for Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC)—where we share our ideas, and thoughts and support each other’s mental and spiritual growth in a community of love.
Our gatherings take place on the 4th Sunday of each month, just before the service, from 9:30am to approximately 10:20am in the 2U Library. If you identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or a Person of Color, we invite you to participate in this empowering community. Contact Berlinda Browne for more info.
People who identify as white are encouraged to participate in 2U’s Anti-Racism Multicultural Ministries (ARMM) or DRUUMM Allies. Contact Curtis Smith or Karen Goldner to learn more about ARMM and Pip Paris to learn more about DRUUMM Allies.
DRUUMM Allies Meeting
We want to invite all white-identifying people at 2U to join the DRUUMM Allies and Accomplices Group. This group will work to build anti-racist community with a focus on challenging racial bias within our congregation. This is a needed opportunity for white people to build up collective efforts that will make our congregation more welcoming to all. Contact Pip Paris for details.

We will tell the story of the Deer Mother, the Holly King, and have lots of music to celebrate the return of the sun. Please have a candle and libation with you for this ritual. Join the ritual via Zoom at bit.ly/COVES-Yule-2024 with meeting ID: 975 3125 6761 and passcode: 621162.

Stories of the Season: Christmas in Pop Culture
Join us for "Stories of the Season: Christmas in Pop Culture", a festive exploration of the stories, songs, and moments that have shaped our collective holiday spirit. From the warm glow of classic TV specials to the unforgettable tunes and iconic films that bring cheer year after year, we’ll dive into the tales that make Christmas sparkle.
Whether you’re a fan of Home Alone, The Grinch, or Mariah Carey’s holiday classics, this event will delight all ages. Let's celebrate how pop culture has brought us closer, warmed our hearts, and reminded us of the joy and magic of the season.
Bring your holiday spirit, your nostalgia, and maybe even a favorite holiday sweater. We can’t wait to celebrate the season with you!
The Innkeepers’ Dilemma Candlelight Service
This holiday season, join us for a unique and contemplative candlelight service: “The Innkeepers’ Dilemma.” Together, we’ll reflect on the timeless themes of welcome, hospitality, and the choices we make when faced with the unexpected.
In the busyness of the season, take a moment to pause, reflect, and connect with the deeper meanings of hope and humanity. This service invites us all to consider: How do we respond when the world knocks on our door?
Come as you are and leave with the warmth of community and the light of the season in your heart.
Lifetime Faith Development Meeting
At Second Unitarian, we foster the spiritual growth of our children and youth by engaging them in meaningful religious education lessons, and by inviting them to join the congregation in worship. We encourage children and youth to approach their spiritual learning with awe and wonder; to consider their beliefs and values with curiosity and reflection; and to connect with the people, creatures, and environment around them with empathy and care.
We invite you to join our Faith Development community! If you are interested in registering your child(ren) for Religious Education (RE) classes, teaching RE, providing childcare during services, or coordinating events, please contact Brittany Morse, Director of Faith Development, at dfd@secondunitarian.org.
Brunch Potluck
Join us for the annual 2U Brunch Potluck at 10:30am in the Palmer Room. Instead of a traditional service, we'll gather for a joyful shared meal that welcomes everyone, of all ages, to come together in community. If you're able, please bring a dish to share. But don't worry—your presence is the most important ingredient, so come even if you can't bring something! No RSVP is required. Please note: our stovetop is currently out of service, so if your dish needs to be heated, please ensure it's oven-friendly. We can’t wait to celebrate the season with you! Contact Karen Goldner at goldnerkaren@gmail.com if you have questions.
For those unable to join us at 2U, there will also be a gathering at The Admiral at the Lake. You may bring a dish to share, but most will find it easier to just bring their own meal, as our meeting place doesn't have a microwave, oven, or stove.
2U Choir Rehearsal
Join the Second Unitarian Church Choir, a 30-plus member, non-auditioned ensemble that welcomes singers of all backgrounds and experience levels. Finances: We regularly review our financial health, discussing budgetary updates, expenditures, and revenue streams. This ensures that we are managing our resources effectively and sustainably.
Capital Campaign: The board closely monitors the progress of our capital campaign, focusing on fundraising efforts, project milestones, and the long-term impact of these initiatives on our community.
Operations: Operational efficiency is critical to our success. The board evaluates current processes, addresses any challenges, and plans for improvements to keep our organization running smoothly.
Policies: Policy discussions are a staple of our meetings, where we review existing policies and consider new ones that reflect our evolving needs and values.
These meetings are crucial for making informed decisions that affect all aspects of our community. While these discussions are primarily handled by the board, we value transparency and are committed to keeping our broader community informed about our work.
If you have any questions or ideas related to these areas, feel free to reach out to a board member. Your input is always welcome as we strive to make decisions that benefit everyone.

At Queer Contra, they embrace non-gendered roles, where dancers can be either a "lark" or a "raven" and it's up to each pair to choose who is who and they can switch whenever they want.
Beginners are welcome and encouraged to come for the pre-dance lesson at 6:30pm! Suggested donation of $10 at the door. No one turned away for lack of funds!
