Rylee Short
A/V Digital Tech Producer
Rylee Short is a composer, performance artist, and horn player from Louisville, Kentucky who often mixes spoken word, elements of ambient meditation practices, and sound experiments. They lost a lot of their early media with their name change and transition but have been producing either scores or recorded productions since 2008. Much of their work explores the collaboration between disciplines, combining spoken word, written poetry, dance, fluxus, and video media in explorative combinations. Rylee is fascinated by how each individual artistic expression changes and transmutes under live collaboration. Their compositions undergo motif exploration and are generally programmatic in nature.
Short served on the Board for Dreamland Louisville, an experimental music venue, as well as the Arts and Repertoire Chair for Orchestra Enigmatic. They were also the long time producer of an interdisciplinary arts performance series, Subterranean Phrases, and host of a talk radio show on ArtxFM interviewing writers and poets titled Keep Louisville Literary. Besides their musical and media accomplishments, Rylee holds an MBA in Organizational Leadership and is certified in Lean Six Sigma for organizational efficiency. When not composing or performing, Rylee enjoys cooking, spending time with their son, and playing with their dainty Dane, Matilda.
