The Membership Committee invites new members to answer whatever questions they choose from a get-acquainted questionnaire. Here are the questions and answers for  Barbara Sciacchitano, Betsy Snyder, James Bradach, Surina Jindel, and Warren Conn.


Barbara Sciacchitano

Q: Are you an early riser? Late sleeper? What do you have for breakfast?  

A: Late sleeper – eggs and toast.

Q: How long have you lived in Chicago? 

A: 45 years

Q: How did you find 2U? What do you like about 2U? 

A: In the neighborhood

Q: Most memorable Halloween costume? 

A: Martha Washington (age 8)

Q: What is your job? 

A: Teaching history in college

Q: Have you ever milked a cow? 

A: No

Q: What was your favorite book when you were a kid? 

A: Secret Garden

Q: Did you ever swim in Lake Michigan? 

A: Yes – cold!

Q: Ever been to the top of Sears/Willis Tower? Did you go out on the ledge? 

A: Yes and no!

Q: When you have out-of-town visitors, where do you take them? 

A: Wrigley Field 

Q: Have you ever been in a parade? 

A: Yes – big bus for CSO first European tour

Q: Can you drive a stick shift?  Yes!


Betsy Snyder

Q: Do you like your job? What is it? What do you like about it? 

A: I’m retired but I loved my job! I was a nurse-educator – I taught nurses and assistants – all subjects!

Q: What’s your number one comfort food? 

A: Potatoes – any way you make them – I will eat them!

Q: What was your favorite book when you were a kid? What did you like about it? 

A: The Velveteen Rabbit – I loved that the rabbit became real through love.


James Bradach

Q: Are you an early riser? Late sleeper? What do you have for breakfast? 

A: Early riser. If the sun is up, I’m up. Breakfast may be avocado toast or yogurt.

Q: How did you find 2U? What do you like about 2U? 

A: I first found out about 2U when attending a ONE Northside fundraiser. I like how welcoming everyone is.

Q: Do you like your job? What is it? What do you like about it? 

A: I love my job. I’m the Data and Technology Director for the non-profit People’s Action. I love working for a social justice organization and I have amazing co-workers.

Q: Do you have roommates? Who cooks? Who does the dishes?

A: I live with my dog, Lars, so I do the cooking. He helps with the dishes though.

Q: Ever been to the top of the Sears/Willis Tower? Did you go out on the ledge? 

A: No way! I’m terrified of heights.

Q: Anything else? 

A: I was bitten by a raccoon when I was in second grade. I never told my mom because I didn’t want to get rabies shots.


Surina Jindel

Q: Are you an early riser? Late sleeper? 

A: Late sleeper. What do you have for breakfast? Nothing or just a granola bar (I’m usually running late!)

Q: Most memorable Halloween costume? 

A: In middle school, I went as Little Red Riding Hood, with the head of a wolf!

Q: Have you ever milked a cow? 

A: No, but would love to pet a cow someday!

Q: What’s your number one comfort food? 

A: My mom’s vegetable soup.

Q: Did you ever swim in Lake Michigan? 

A: No, it seems very cold!

Q: What’s your one must-do can’t-miss Chicago event?

A: Less of an event, but a place – I love the Chicago Botanical Gardens!


Warren Conn

Q: How long have you lived in Chicago? 

A: 66 years. I have been blessed to have studied and travelled abroad, but always come home to the “bestest” city in the USA. Born and bred and “basted”.  What do you like about the city?  I love our city’s unique neighborhoods vibe.  What’s your favorite Chicago trivia?  Halsted Street was named after brothers William and Caleb Halsted, real estate investors from Philadelphia, who barely set foot in our city.

Q: Do you have a favorite movie? 

A: “The Sound of Music” – has it all – music, scenery, history, romance.

Q: What’s your number one comfort food? 

A: A burger, rare, with a slice of raw onion, and fries!

Q: What was your favorite book when you were a kid? What did you like about it? 

A: The Arabian Nights – escapist adventure!

Q: Did you ever swim in Lake Michigan? 

A: Many times – on all sides!

Q: Have you ever been in a parade? 

A: Cub/Boy Scout parades – St. John’s Military Academy 1976 entry in Chicago’s St. Pat’s parade.

Q: Can you drive a stick shift? 

A: My first and only car was a CVCC red hatchback/stick shift.
